Entitled "Tales of the Unexpected"

This piece was in referance to the classic pulp novels and comic books that became popular in the 1950's. Their course texture and lurid subject matter made them highly appealing, and they achieved a cult status, most notably in the Quentin Tarantino film "Pulp Fiction"

The paper I printed on was an extremely heavy and pourous blotting paper, to simulate the type of raw material that was used in a real "Pulp Novel" production. The imagery was produced by myself using black and white 35mm film and edited in PhotoDeluxe using a "line tool" that allowed me to simulate the appearance of using still photography contrasting against apparently drawn material, much like Ralph Bakshi and his work in the 1978 animated version of Lord of the Rings where live action was blended with animation.

The story was of a doomed relationship, whereby an obsessive lover reminisces over his girlfriend and how he ended up murdering her and burying her in the wall of their home. Ensuring that she would never leave him and the home they built together. This later became the inspiration for my short film enititled "Dark Love".
